Equine Dental Care

Regular dental care is vital for the horse´s health, wellbeing and performance.

It should start immediately after the foal´s birth in order to detect and – if necessary – treat and correct potential  congenital problems as soon as possible. Up to the age of five years a rhythm of six months  is advisible for tests  to check the wear of milk teeth and later the development of the adult horse´s new set of teeth. Damage to these, e.g. from splinters and remnants of teeth, can thus be eliminated. An early diagnose of wolf teeth is especially important here.

For adult horses an annual check is usually sufficient. In few more problematic cases shorter intervals may be necessary though.
